Round 18: work 11 stitches, yarn over, knit the next stitch, pass the yarn over stitch over the last worked stitch. Continue in pattern to the last 10 stitches before the marker, (the last stitch worked should be a slipped stitch), yarn over, knit the next stitch, pass the yarn over stitch over the last worked stitch. Work the the end of the round, slip marker.

Round 19-42: Work in pattern as established. This should be approximately 24 rounds or 13 cm / 5 inches from the brim.

Tip: Use this as an approximate guide. I suggest trying one your hat as you go to see what length you prefer!).

Once you’ve worked your rounds or desired length, ending on a round with a slipped stitch, work the top decreases as follows:

Using a 5mm crochet hook, work a chain that measures approximately 86 cm / 34 inches.

Pocket

You can work an optional pocket for your hat also. I did this by working the linen stitch flat. For reference I cast on 11 stitches and worked 13 rows. Seam onto your hat.
