The Whispered Ties Top is worked from the top down. The collar is first worked in the round, followed by short rows to shape the neckline. The yoke is then divided into sections, which are worked flat to form the raglan design.

I-cords are knitted and laced through the openings to create the signature tie-up raglan detail. Once the sections are rejoined, the body is worked in the round down to the hem. Finally, stitches are picked up around the armholes, and the sleeves are worked in the round to the desired length.

Little contrasting details along the ribbing of the collar, cuffs and hem create an additional subtle design to tie all the elements together.

Skill Level Intermediate / Advanced Level

This pattern works the following techniques:
knit, purl, working flat and in the round, 1x1 rib, short rows, left and right leaning increases, cable knitting, long tail cast on or tubular cast on, tubular bind off, I-cord knitting.

20 sts and 26 rows = 4 inches /10 cm in stockinette stitch on 4 mm US 6needles, blocked.

20 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in 1x1 rib stitch on 3.5 mm US 4needles, blocked.

If you have more stitches on 4 inches / 10 cm than stated, use a larger needle size; if you have fewer stitches, use a smaller needle size.

Suggested Needles

• 4 mm US 6 circular needles 32/40 inches / 80/100 cm or size to obtain gauge.
• 3.5 mm US 4 circular needles 32/40 inches / 80/100 cm for the 1x1 rib on neckline, hem and cuffs.
• 4 mm cable needle.
